The 1919 Chronotimer Flyback is made with 100% titanium, for low weight and high performance. This high-tech material is 40% lighter than stainless steel and has been key to race car engine construction for many years. There are also parallels to sports cars in the strap, which is made of fine calfskin – the same material used in the interiors of Porsche sports cars. The heart of the chronograph is the Porsche Design WERK 01.200 caliber, which is the result of three years of development. As well as the typical Porsche precision, Porsche Design's first ever in-house movement also offers the cutting-edge flyback function, based on the principle that what's essential on the racetrack is also useful in day-to-day life. Start, stop, and reset functions are combined into a single mechanism so that successive times can be effortlessly measured. It's not just time measurement where precision is of prime importance, every movement is intensively tested for accuracy by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), a neutral authority in Switzerland. Only watches certified by COSC are permitted to bear the prestigious title “Chronometer” on their face.
